The best way to find staff...?

Postby mcflyinshanghai » Mon Sep 05, 2011 2:11 pm

Have been driving myself crazy trying to find one or two employees - young Chinese-speaking (Western or Chinese) staff who are on-the-ball and don't want to teach - have used all of the sites and have been spammed half-to-death with crappy resumes.

So...advise required - how do you find your employees?

The golden question is.. how much are you paying?

More than a teacher, less than a 'proper' expat - if 'Joe's skool of Inglish' can find staff, we sure as diggity should be able to get a few CVs through the door...

From what i can see - basic teacher salaries outside of int'l schools maxes out at about 15,000 - it's more than that.

This is kinda apt as I'm thinking of setting up a job portal for halfpats -- locally hired foreigners. Of course I hope it would be helpful for employers looking for that in-between personnel.

So you've tried enjoyshanghai, shanghaiexpat jobs, and got spammed with lousy resumes? Or are you referring to the chinese sites like 51jobs, chinahr, zhaopin?

You may also want to try headhunters?

Well based on the fact you provided limited information. It could be a multitude of reasons.

1. Where did you post?
2. What industry is this job in?

If you give more details on the job it would greatly help the kind of assistance you get.

Sometimes it takes a few months to find someone qualified.
If you think I have animosity towards you, I in fact very much do. You are not imagining it :D

If i'm not wrong, these are all run via the Chinasplash engine - and I've still been spammed with lousy resumes even with, or perhaps because of, a spotlight posting.

A Halfpat site is a great idea...first customer in waiting here.
