I had Kilkenny, Stella & Hoegaarden, on tap. All lovely.

The cider and the Tetleys are up and running from this week I think; they're not online just yet.

And of course the bottled beers are cracking!

I see that they are having the official opening this Friday. Is it more of the same or do they have something special planned ?

The Tetley's is on tap, I had one on Saturday - it is great to have an English bitter available in Shanghai.

Yeah I had a lovely cold Tetleys on Sunday night and it was great. I liked the friendly and attentive service and for sure will be going back. As long as they can keep the Chinese hired help out it'll be a great, friendly place to hang out at.

Just had a look for a website but couldn't find one. Anyone know if they are showing the Australian A-league football semis this weekend? In particular the Wellington-Newcastle game on Sunday. Checked Big Bamboo website and it doesn't look like they are showing it. The Camel seems to have some aussie influence so hoping for better coverage of games down under.

It's not on Australia network, so Bamboo probably not able to show it.

If it's on Fox sports (Australian one), The Camel will most likely be able to show it.

Eric, quick heads-up. We don't talk about that beer on this thread. There are a couple of guys around here that are a little sensitive about it.
Maybe ask if the VB's will be at 25rmb this weekend.

Just checked the website... pics look great. A bar full of fat, middle-aged white guys. Add in ericst29's h**kers down the street, and you have yourself the next Malone's. Well done, all.

Grand Opening

Postby Hammer » Sun Mar 07, 2010 1:02 am

I was in there on last night and I saw mostly younger people, including some great looking girls, both local and expat. It was a great crowd and I had a ball. It had a really nice feel and it was great to be in a bar that had some good eye candy :) I saw the guys walking around with the The Camel shirts, were they the owners? If so we need to thank them for building a great bar.

Ok now for a womans point of view. Good bar, a little bright though. The high stools could do with having backs, it can get very uncomfortable if you want to draw people for an entire evening. Please get blackcurrant!!!!! I never understand why western bars in shanghai refuse to get blackcurrant for their drinks... Even m&s sells it cheap these days. Hooks under the tables for bags please. There were many around the outside and at the bar but none at the small high tables. Now for the toilets WTF!!! obviously a bar made for men! My partner comes back from the toilet raving at how great it is having a tv screen inthe toilets so I am thinking the ladies must be even better OhNo! what a scruffhole! can't open the doors to the toilets because they are not cut to size so I struggle to get in and out. The ONE and only soap dispenser has fallen off the wall so unusable. The bin is a sport in itself!!!! Let's aim through the big hole in the counter and hope to hit the tiny bin way beneath. No sign of a tv screen just the cleaning departments unused cupboard. REALLY!!! please cater for western women too please?!?!? Will go again because I think this ave has great potential but some attention to detail is lacking and seems it is catering for male beer louts only so far

I don't own a bar in Shanghai, neither do I plan to open one, but shouldn't you, as a bar owner, be less bitter towards other bar owners?

I can't really think of anything intelligent to refer to this kind of situation other than it makes you come across as a c*nt.
