Hi
I also want to buy books from Amazon. Will they accept my address if I get someone to enter it in Chinese characters? All my mail that is addresses to me in pinyin never ever finds me, and I am worried about my books getting lost somewhere.

I have ordered from Amazon many times and never have a problem yet. I mail all my orders to my husband's office address in English. I heard people saying mails/ packages to office addresses are more reliable than residential addresses.

My work place is even harder to find than my home - as it is underground! I just wondered if anyone has tried to use chinese characters for the address, and if it worked or not

I have the book in mp3 in my ipod. But the more accurate title for the book should be the world is greedy. The whole idea behind globalization and outsourcing isn't about making the world a better place but rather making a handful CEOs filthy rich. Do a reality check on CEOs' latest salaries and comps, particularly those in USA. What they think all day is how to cut cost and lay off more workforce to improve so called bottomline and make the numbers looking pretty on financial statements so wall street can make them richer. Globalization is also taking tolls on developing countries' environment by forcing high concentration of labor camps. People in those countries often seek quick short-sighted profit without long term growth strategy. Mr. Friedman certainly won't tell you the real social and economical reasons behind the pushing for flat world.

"The hidden hand of the market will never work without the hidden fist ... And the hidden fist that keeps the world safe for Silicon Valley's technologies to flourish is called the US Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps." (Friedman, The Lexus and the Olive Tree p. 373).

Friedman is a tool. Pop economics at it's worst.

This book is more an his view on the process of globalization and the rapid pace it is on. It is not a social commentary.
One might not agree on the process or social implications, but he does provide some interesting insight on the whys and hows.
It is somewhat simplified. But given the sucess of the likes of Dr Phil. Is that not what sells. No differant here.
