In the meantime I can tell you I have just bought a small one bedroom apartment with marble floors (not ceramic tiles) in North Jakarta city central, Hayam Wuruk Plaza V Apartments. The building has a swimming pool, spa and gym on the rooftop for the exclusive use of the tenants.

The apartment needs some renovation for the kitchen and bathroom plus walls painted and some minor repairs. Price $43,000. I don't know what the rent would be but it would be very cheap.

By comparison the Buick van I had in Shanghai cost $56,000.

Working visas can be more difficult to get in Indonesia than China. Better to fully check the visa availability.

Seems there some agencies offer it for $1300/year.

Btw, is it ok for foreigners easily buy/sell/rent out the property ?

Sounds about right for the visa as it costs the company $100 per month but be wary of scams.
