Probably all of them.

If Hitler's regime was still in power today, that would mean they would have accomplished their objective of world domination. If you run the world, people kind of have to do business with you.

Foreigners who after spending two months in China still feel the need to comment, discuss, laugh and feel superior over chinese about spitting, pushing and shouting are ridiculous.
While it may not be exactly received as good manners by chinese as well, it is still so common that it is acceptable to the extent you see it on the streets. It is part of our cultural difference guys, you may not like it and may never get used to it but if you want or have to be in China you somehow have to make your peace with it.

But your later posts made it clear that beyond that you really have a problem here. I don't want to bash or flame or insult you, I'm serious: Expressing so much hatred against a whole people seems to me under normal circumstances only possible as a result of purely racist resentment, but i doubt that would be the case.

Now it's not a big deal since you are not in china anymore and you don't have to deal with it anymore, but I'd suggest to avoid offending people by such posts on a public forum.

2) if you go to a casual restaurant most of the chinese guests are eating noisily
3) bad or no manners e.g. pushing to come in first in the subway
4) pick their nose in the subway / spit noisly on the streets
5) when they go out, their outfit look like they found somethind random in the dark and put it on

Jesus, those are very racist comments. I'm American (born and raised in the states) but I'm racially chinese and I think that this isn't a fair statement at all. The countries that you mentioned, like HK, and Singapore are 80-90% made of racially chinese, and even many of the South East Asian countries have a large racially chinese population. Even back in the states, and many countries in the EU have sizable 2nd, 3rd, 4th generation chinese population. My point is, those "chinese" are not the type of chinese that you describe. I don't think its fair to stereotype that as a RACE ppl are all screwed up. Thats like going to the ghettos in any large inner city in the states, see some african american gangsters and saying all blacks all over the world are drug dealors and gangsters.

I think some stupid laowai got their panties tied up because someone probably stole their wallet or they fell for a stupid scam.

Remember, People still fall for Nigerian Emails and **** like that so theres bound to be stupid people.

Maybe chinese people deiceve, however, if thats the case then White people are so evil and sick because pretty much every child molester/rapist/serial killer/necrophiliac tends to be of a cauasian race.

Suck it up or go back to whereever your from. Chinese people are nothing but warm and inviting and are they abit concerned of the amount of foreign merceneries coming to China and taking jobs that 6 million jobless graduates every year could do.
All the things I really like are either immoral, illegal or fattening.

agree with you that the dude prolly got screwed here and is being an immature bitch about it by stereotyping the whole frickin race...but ima have to go against u on the Chinese ppl being warm and friendly bit....warm and friendly??? really? I'm racially chinese, but I'm considered a laowai too, and the average chinese/shanghainese here are as far from warm and friendly ppl as it gets man! example....saw an old lady riding her bike, trips over a pot hole...falls down, all her **** (fruits veggies whatever) falls out of her bike basket right at the curb where I was standing waiting to cross the street with about 10-15 ppl. Not ONE person even took a 2nd look at this old lady let alone try to help her up. So I went, picked up her fruits and ****..helped her on her bike. She barely acknowledges me helping her, and rides the f off. I'm not expecting a big thank you or a hug or whatever, just common decency? A nod? So yes warm and friendly pedestrians who are really helpful to old lady in need, and warm and friendly old lady as well. Maybe I was too nosey to try to help I dunno....but this **** ain't just one incident...its everyday...another example....i got up from my seat in the train to let a pregnant lady sit...b4 she can make it to the seat some 30-40 yr old man pushes his way across to steal the seat from her...I told the mofo that I left the seat to let the pregnant lady sit, not his ugly ass (said in chinese and not that rude of course) but he refused to get the f up....again..my point is...these ain't unique incidents man...I see this **** everyday man. so i dunno how u got warm and friendly man.....

Postby Shi Da Ru » Fri Jul 22, 2011 12:27 pm

Yesterday, in the metro, 40-year old well-dressed chinese lady is playing Tetris on her cellphone, volume really LOUD! At 07:15 am, after 10 minutes it kind of started annoying me. No one complains (typical). OK, so it's once again a job for the anal laowai. I go "hey, bit more quiet please?". She turns around and looks at me with a puzzled look on her face. I explain "your cellphone, turn down the sound". She looks at me with apathy for another 3-4 seconds, then returns to her game. (dialogue in chinese, before any smart-ass says that I told her in English and expected her to understand). Really nothing one can do faced with this attitude, except maybe get up, grab the cell and throw it out the window, which I didn't opt for in this case.

She then made her point by playing for another 5 minutes before putting the phone away. I got my revenge later, when she missed her station (she realised, got up and run but the door closed in her face). It was the South Railway Station and she was carrying a suitcase. I so hope she missed the train!

My point (established through many experiences, not just this one example): rudeness, indifference, apathy, disregard for other people, non-involvement mentality are the norm here.

OK, I checked those two statements and they were pretty damn racist.

Other posters have made the point repeatedly: Han Chinese societies outside the mainland do not behave so badly. It's not a race thing. It's a cultural thing and it's confined pretty much to the mainland.

Romperstomper you have obviously copped the worst of it, and from what you've written, you were copping it for several years. But now you're gone, you've made your escape, you're never coming back. So why do you keep returning to this board and posting your rabidly anti-Chinese invective?

Romper, 80% of all serial killers/rapists tend to be white cauasian males and very rarely do killers acutally cross racial lines so go look that **** up, its on the US crime database.

Second of all, Shanghaiese people are KNOWN amongst CHINESE people that they are rude/cheap and unfriendly however Ive spent my time elsewhere in China and have met nothing but very nice, kind people. I suppose if you look like a douche and act like a douche, people treat you like a douche. Ive been everywhere from Anhui to Beijing to Henan to Sichuan to Xian to Hainan, I can keep going and Ive had maybe one or two incidents outside of Shanghai of dickery and that was mostly because they figured I was white so try to **** with them and it was in Guangzhou which is a whole different ball park.Shanghai is where the Chinese dickery has effected me but i was always thought of one thing.

The funny thing about complaining about the chinese culture is that most of us don't know a **** about them.

So, back on topic after a long series of smart (and some dumb) posts above me.

Top 5:
- Money lasts forever (and I'm not going 'local' 24/7)
- Public transport is damn efficient for such a gigantic city
- Humidity cleans your skin
- Endless places to relax and/or go nuts in a good way
- Safety

Worst 5
- People can be complete idiots. Some of them, foreigners.
- Fantastic odors that hits you in the brain out of nowhere
- Stupid drivers, specially scooters and bicycles
- Lack of common sense on safety and quality assurance
- White trash posters on this forum

foreigner style, culture and class
how comparable SH is to NY in every way
MSG for breakfast

worst 5:
goober foreigner statues
being a living diorama in the museum of natural history
low insults, pedestrian dramas

Spaniard: That the majority of serial killers in America are Caucasian probably has
more to do with the reality that they are the majority of the population there.
But what does this have to do with Shanghai?
And if we are actually speaking about serial killers, a serious look at India is in order.
There are a caste known as the "Thugees" as a group are linked to the majority of
the killings there yearly.
And I mean hundreds of times as many killings that largely go unreported.
While no country is exempt from crime, I have seen a dozen heavily armed men
in KFC in Dalian to get the days receipts, and I have seen a friend in Shanghai
walk out of his shop in YuYuan with a stack of 100 RMB notes six
inches thick down the street without being accosted (yet I was badgered relentlessly
by the "watch bag crowd")...
I still love Shanghai, warts and all.
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?

"Humidity cleans your skin"? Huh?

Humidity causes my skin to be covered with a perpetual layer of slime, consisting of partially-evaporated sweat emulsified with skin oil and particulate matter from the heavily polluted local air.

Manicho, you are genetically Asian right? I notice that Chinese people don't sweat anywhere near as much as Westerners. No doubt that is an evolutionary adaptation to the generally high humidity in this part of the world. (Shanghai is even humid in winter, f'chrissakes.) So you probably don't get slimy in summer. But I am at a loss to understand how humidity could actually "clean" your skin.

this reminds me of a co-worker i had back in the states (this is just one case, so i'm not trying to make a counter-point with an exception). he was the heaviest sweat-er i've ever met, and he was from malaysia (ethnic chinese). we'd play basketball after work and he'd have to change shirts half-way through. no one wanted to guard him because you'd get splashed every time you put a hand on him. it was pretty nasty. i bet his bedsheets are made from bath towels.

but i think sweatiness is more of a regional thing than a genetic thing. i've worked in taiwan, and summer there is unbearably humid. i'd walk 3mins from a company apt to the office and i'd be drenched in sweat, head to toe. but the locals were little bothered and didn't show up in patchy, sweat-stained clothes like me.

other taiwanese co-workers in the US that have become accustomed to drier weather, though, upon returning to taiwan, also find that they can no longer bear the humidity there and also sweat buckets.

Well, I'm not asian at all... But it's known that humidity and heat opens pores and help to relief underlying conditions. I developed a nummular eczema in Winter last year, because of the dryness. This condition usually takes MONTHS or even years to heal completely... even with steroids or corticoids.

The humidity/heat of this summer healed it in 2 weeks. Yay.

Sure, it sucks being soaked all the time, but if you manage to keep your skin clean as soon as you go indoors, summer can actually be very good for the skin. And yes, I do sweat. Not gallons, but a decent amount to be dodged in the sidewalk. :P

Now I'll stop because I sound weird talking about skin care. *Walks away manly*
