Travel in China

Can anyone please tell me if there is a train service between Shanghai and Wuhan? Also how much.
I looked at the flights, but you have to pay double because you have to transit through Beijing.
Also is it cheaper to book flights whilst in China or from England?
I am going to China in March and I try to look for train information on line but their booking results come back negative.
Help please!
Thanx Alan

It's really rugged and roughway, more than 1100km and at least 28 hours on the way.
"Soft bed" need 400CNY or more. Anyway, take a train is more intersting sometims.

Flight from ShangHai to WuHan is not expensive. After discont, 570CNY at most.
Check to http://english.ctrip.com/ you will find it.
