TV channels are only mono

Hi,

With my TV plugged directly into the wall, every channel is only mono sound, including English channels like CNN / Discovery. Is this normal? I'm not sure if it was this way with my old TV, but my new one displays the sound channels, which is what got me curious.

CNN and Discovery from the public cable networks. Really?

I have iptv from Telecom. The picture is terrible (it should look at least as good as a 5rmb copied DVD, right???), haven't checked the sound.
