Can anyone give me the location of a store selling these? I checked in XuJiaHui and the large electronics mall near the Hong Kong Plaza but they only had the Japanese versions.

Cheers,

Jaz

Well isn't the US Wii impossible to buy in the US now? So I doubt you can get it in China.

It's available in the US but US170 shipping is a bit much! I would settle for a Japanese model now but every single Japanese Wii in Shanghai that I have seen does not run Super Mario Galaxy because they dont have legit Wiikeys in them.

Actually, I got the Japanese Wii and tried tho play Mario Galaxy. The thing is, that to run it you need to buy a real Japanese game that allows you to update the main Wii software to the latest version, 3.0 I think. Buying the Japanese real version of Mario Galaxy lets you do that, then you can get back to playing those 5 yuan games no prob.
You really should get the Japanese Wii, the deal is definetly worth it, just make sure when you do so that your dealer updates it to the latest version right away, and try out Mario Galaxy to make sure...
Cheers!

Last thing, I got my Wii in a small shop on Xietu lu (near Luban lu, opposite side of the Photostuff mall, and before the highway). They don't really speak English but if you tell them u wanna buy the Wii and play the English version of Mario they'll do what you need, you can then check their amazing list of games, it's pretty nice!!
Enjoy!

there is a great little shop near my apartment in zhongshan park. Basically if you were in Mayfair hotel you walk to changning road. Then at the light across the street from McDonald's you take a right. Walk about 200 meters and the shop is on the right hand side. They don't speak English either but they are really great about making sure your Wii works and will fix it for free if you screw up the BIOS.

No, a backup copy will update as well, you don't need an original copy. But you have make sure you aren't updating a Jap Wii with a US copy of Mario.

Dr. Noleg: Thanks for the tip re the store on Xietu Lu. I went there today and ordered a Japanese Wii, modded with a real and upgradeable Wiikey, an extra set of contollers, an official component cable and 40 games for RMB2700. I am going to collect it tomorrow. They had all the latest games aswell, even Resident Evil: Unbrella Chronicles.
