USA passport holder only 30days entry from HK embassy?

Postby mlondon » Thu Apr 30, 2009 12:27 pm

Hi, searched, but could not find current info about this. I'm a USA citizen and my USA passport currently has a 1 year validity, multiple entry, 60 day stay Chinese Tourist visa. The visa expires soon and I must leave the country on May 11th.
I was told by someone that USA passport holders can only get 30 day entry visas in HK. I will be travelling and prefer not to have to leave again so soon.
Anyone know a way to get a 60 day stay tourist visa in HK?
If not, can I get in Bangkok or Chiang Mai? How quickly can I get in Thailand?
Thank you !

HK is not an option anymore. HK is very strict and doesn't distribute visa to foreigners who've been to mainland already. You can always book a local agent for help near Nathan road but that will cost at least 1000 HK dollars and take a day or two for processing.

Conclusion: avoid HK by all means unless you have things to do there such as business or tourism.
