"Seriously concerned"? About what? It's nothing but diplomatic posturing on both sides.

Why would China be nervous with that?

They have their own aircraft carriers right?

Oh wait, they dont.

And I thought they had this super special missile that could destroy aircraft carriers (hype) ?

Something doesnt make sense here.

June 19, 2010 – More than a dozen U.S. warships and Israel, including an aircraft carrier, passed through the Suez Canal on Friday and head towards the Red Sea. “According to eyewitnesses, U.S. battleships were larger than crossed the Channel for many years,” reported the London-based newspaper al-Quds al-Arabi on Saturday.

So you're equating the mere presence of an aircraft carrier with testing nuclear weapons?

I'm a little worried about your safety since you seem unable to assign appropriate weight to risks. So, please, don't cross the street in Shanghai unless there are no cars, buses, trucks, tanks or aircraft carriers coming.

Strange that there appears to be a number of F-14s on it, and Intruders. All the Hornets are there but can't see why of the Tomcats? Unless this is an archive pic?

By the way Vic, F-18s were designed with UGS...and every single jet afterwards on Catia :P

That would be because that carrier is the USS Kitty Hawk, not the USS George Washington. Kitty Hawk was decommissioned last year after 49 years of service. Here's the G-Dub (for GW, not Bush):

It would have to get through the Phalanx cannons first. Good luck with that.

No danger. Just a way of showing military presence much like China does.

This is the transcript of the ACTUAL radio conversation between the British and the Irish, off the coast of Kerry, Oct 98. Radio conversation released by the Chief of Naval Operations 10-10-01:

IRISH: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the South, to avoid a collision.

BRITISH: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the North, to avoid a collision.

IRISH: Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

BRITISH: This is the Captain of a British navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.

IRISH: Negative. I say again, You will have to divert YOUR course.

BRITISH: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER HMS BRITANNIA! THE SECOND LARGEST SHIP IN THE BRITISH ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE ACCOMPANIED BY THREE DESTROYERS, THREE CRUISERS, AND NUMEROUS SUPPORT VESSELS. I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH, I SAY AGAIN, THAT IS 15 DEGREES NORTH, OR COUNTER-MEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP.

IRISH: We are a lighthouse. Your call.

Fine piece of craftsmanship that ship is.
