Stolen bicycle - it's that time of the year!

Stolen bicycle - it's that time of the year!

Postby Baas_Babelaas » Wed Jan 11, 2017 2:17 pm

Had my bike stolen Monday evening (still light out). It was a folding b-twin from Decathlon.

It was securely locked up in the entrance hall of my building. Guess it was a pretty easy steal because it's lightweight and easy to throw on the back of a blue truck or 3 wheeler.

Replaced it with a b-twin mountain bike which now gets kept on the second floor, outside my apartment.

Still, it could easily be stolen outside a metro station while I'm work.

Didn't bother with the cops.

So, heads up. The "less fortunate" are busy at the moment, "making money" to head back to the villages.

Yep, also heard from a couple of people who had their batteries stolen lately. Back to 'normal' in two weeks I guess...

Actually, I'm surprised that with all the abandoned bikes that I see around, that someone would rather steal a bike that is obviously used regularly. The abandoned ones, nobody would miss.

I had my lovely Decathlon bike stolen outside the metro a few months ago. I have now given up on owning my own bike here and just use the hire bikes instead.

I would too, but at 1.87m I'm just too big for them.

I get a bad feeling about this bike - it's a real stunner, and thieves are attracted to them like crows to bright shiny things.
