How To Pay Utilities Bills

How To Pay Utilities Bills

Postby seabass » Tue Feb 14, 2017 9:18 am

So as you can probably tell, I'm still just getting settled here. Do you the best way to pay utilities bills. I heard you can either do it via going to Family Mart or by using WeChat Wallet but am not sure how to exactly to do either. Yeah I sound like a noob I know

yep, just walk into the family mart and hand over your bill, they scan it, you pay, all done. Personally i pay it by Wecat or Alipay, wechat is easy to set up, Alipay is a bit of a hassle, especially the passport bit, but if you have a chinese friend they can help you, it's done in 5 minutes.
statistics are just like mini-skirts……they suggest a lot but hide the essential parts.

Don't wait too long before paying your bills. As colleagues have found out the hard way, if you delay then the shop may not accept payment and you then you have to find the head office to settle up.

I use Alipay...guess I set it up before all the hassle.

Can go to their website afterwards and get a detailed receipt of payment and print it out.

+1

Also, if you happen to be past the due date, you can't settle in a normal shop anymore, but no problem on Alipay.

I have WeChat wallet and Alipay connected to my Chinese bank card, so it just pulls the money out of the bank account. Now it's so much easier to pay bills. Just scan the QR code on the bill and pay.
To get set up, you need to make sure your Chinese bank card is set up to connect to WeChat or Alipay. You may need to go back to the bank branch to authorize it. It won't work with a foreign card, as far as I know.
Once that is set up, it's pretty easy to add a card in WeChat wallet. One key thing is to make sure the name is exactly as the bank has it-- usually all caps.
Now days every little shop accepts WeChat or alipay so you can just scan their QR code and pay.

Thank you MarvinHC for your warm welcome. Still downunder now helping with Mum who has Alzheimers but still able to help with advice and property searches.

Lovely to be back onboard. Seems rather quiet compared to a couple of years ago. Any idea why at all??

How you doing anyway? Must be some good gig to be in Shanghai so long. :wink:

Cheers,

Adrienne ::kiss::
