Visa Requirement for Wife

Postby PetrolHead » Tue Nov 22, 2011 7:58 pm

I'm expatriating with my family to Shanghai next month with my job. My wife currently works in the UK, and her employer would like her to work two days per week for them in China (she is a university lecturer). She will have a Z visa based on my work permit. Does she need anything else or will this suffice? She would be paid in the UK.

Thanks.

Will she be working from home? Her dependent Z-Visa does not entitle her to work but if she is working from home and being paid in the UK who is going to know?

She would be working from home for the most part, but visiting different universities and businesses weekly/monthly.

As long as the UK employer does not have a China affiliate that is benefiting from her work.....keep it on the QT and probably not an issue.

Although it is illegal.

jzzzzzz......one of my Pet Peeves is referring to a Resident Permit as a Z!

The Z is the Single Entry Visa that allows you to enter China to obtain the RP

Rant over..... :D

Why don't you see if here employer will pick up the costs involved with
upgrading her visa- much less to concern yourself with then, yes?
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
