I'm visiting Chengdu next month with my wife and brother in law, does anyone know of a good guide we could employ for a couple of days? Our visit is mainly to see the Pandas but we would also like to see any other interesting places.

Your hotel will be able to arrange for you. ChengDu has a lot fo dights & sounds to offer and I have been there countless times and love it.
Depending on the length of your stay you might want to rent a jeep and explore the country side [if you speak & read Chinese].

The Kempinski hotel is close to the airport and offers good deals via ctrip.

If you fly with Sichuan Airlines you get a free transfer from the airport to any place in downtown/suburbia Chengdu. Little yellow mini-bus. Fun ride.

Also take remember to go for Hot Pot. Thousands of them around.
Drink the sweet milk-joghurt which will take the spicyness away.
