Given we are currently in the summer period then eating salads with low fat dressings, lots of fruit and chicken and fish as well as some exercise I think is really the best way. I have been adhering to this for the past few months and am slowly loosing kgs. One tip is to have a good hearty meal of meat and vegetables once a week and enjoy a sweet treat as well so you REWARD yourself. Little by little is really the best way rather than CRASH DIETS as I don't think they are healthy. It is more about changing eating habits and introducing healthy foods and habits into your lifestyle.

All the very best.

Add increased exercise to that and you have a pretty good plan. The main thing that has worked for me this year was being honest with myself about the main problems in my lifestyle - too much alcohol, too many starches (esp pasta), too big portions and not enough exercise. I've also changed snacks from ice creams and crisps to mostly fruit - I'll have an Ice Cream at the weekend if I feel like it.

OP, describe your current activity level and diet.

There's no way you can get effective weight loss tips without that information.

I have lost a lot of weight by simply not eating after 5pm. I eat what I want except sweets, which I leave to the weekend. I try not to drink during the week only on Fri Sat and maybe a little nip on Sunday. But that has resulted in me losing 4 inches off of my waist and I only started 3 months ago.
Just telling you what worked for me. I have a few more inches to go, but at least I am moving in the right direction.

"Weight loss" can mean almost anything. I'm "losing weight" right now sitting here in a sweat-suit typing, cutting a few pounds before a fight weigh-in. But that weight all goes back on tomorrow when I have a drink of water.

If your trying to lose fat, that's a different matter entirely. The answer is pretty simple: increase your activity level, eat quality whole foods. Avoid excesses of sugar, fat, alcohol, & processed foods. It's basically the same thing most of the posters here have said. I would also add this: increase the amount of lean muscle on your body, and your metabolic rate will increase (you'll burn fat more quickly). Good luck to you.

Cutting off limbs is the fastest way to loose weight
RULES TO REMEMBER IN LIFE:

2. Many people are alive only because it’s illegal to shoot them.

^ - pretty sure those are ridiculous advices - everyone who gives a 1-10 or whatever list of weight loss tips. i give this face ==> -_-
(yes I'm generalizing I know.)

just fyi - drinking fresh juices do not help you lose weight, you're not intaking the fiber, just the fruit sugar.

drinking more than 8 glasses of water in a day does not help you lose weight either -

exercising for more than half an hour - stretching? doesn't help lose weight, healthy practice though.

Ok, enough with criticisms - weight loss. you really do need to understand and of course tell us your current activity level, caloric intake or diet, etc.

Haha! Fruit juice is full of sugar, NOT FRUIT! Even then, fruit is full of natural sugar.

Also, how does water make one lose weight? If it is in replacement of something like cola, then yes I can understand.

Define simple food? Bread and water?

Couldn't agree more. (Ramsey's not my trainer btw.)

Another tip. Keep a food diary. It's amazing what you don't eat when you know you have to write it down.

Slowly introduce new healthy habits into your lifestyle, one a week.....not all at once, otherwise it will be too drastic of a change and you will revert to your old unhealthy habits.

- Try not to eat after 5 or 6 pm
- Do some brisk walking (1-2 hours a night) or other exercise 4-5 nights a week
- Replace beer/soft drinks with water
- Eat something with a lot of fiber for breakfast

Also, I lost a lot of weight doing the weight watchers program. In this program, you count your calories, fat and fiber. Depending on these 3 three things, point values are assigned to all foods. You keep track of your points each day and stay within your point range. It is normal eating....nothing drastic like the Atkin's diet. Anything drastic will not work in the long term.

I recommend the following important tips:

1. Be extremely religious. Any monotheistic religion will do.
2. Make sure not to eat anything red after 4.37pm, except if rain is expected.
3. Add two teaspoons of baking soda to a glass of milk and put it in the refrigerator.
4. Avoid pumpernickel altogether.
5. Ignore points 1-4 and just listen to Ramsay.

Weight is the least of my problems here, actually no problem at all. Problems here are high blood pressure and cholesterol. The local food is not very healthy. Found my own way around that now, and doing pretty well. You can keep a healthy diet, even in China, but it does take some effort.

Eat Less Sh1t, Move More Sh1t, be it your ass, some weights, perhaps both? Done.

On a serious note:
Losing weight isn't a complicated process, it takes a bit of long term commitment... LONG TERM! Losing weight and being fit has to be a long term commitment or you simply won't succeed.
I started to lose weight before I came over, losing only about 1kg or less a week (I was also lifting).

Right now all I do is:
Run, about 4km every 2 days (if you can't run 4km, just run for 30 minutes at whatever pace is bareable).

For me:
Pushups: 30x with feet on sofa, then 20 regular, and another 20 regular.
Crunches: 20 reps x3
Leg Raises (straight after crunches): 30reps x2
Dips: 20x 3
Plank: 1 Minute, or more if you can handle it.

You can do these exercises at home, I just do the dips off the end of the sofa or bed.
Remember if you do these, do sets, and do proper pushups, nice slow and deep (oooeeerrr).

If you ache, good, it shows it's working. Stretch afterwards if you're not used to this sort of exercise. Same with running of course, make sure you warm down and don't just crash out on a chair - you're calves will beast you the next day otherwise.

I will be adding pull ups once I've lost more weight, as I don't want to damage my elbows. I used to get bad tennis elbow due to excessive rock climbing so I'm wary of hurting them now.

BTW: I want to start circuit training again, nothing complicated, just in a park somewhere, or running track. Let me know if anyone is interested, circuit training in a group doesn't look so ridiculous :)
I just want huggles!

Check out the book "The 4 hour body" by Timothy Ferriss.

I used it to quickly gain muscle mass and was super effective. My friends that introduced it to me used the program to loose weight and they said they've never had anything so effective, 5 lbs in the first 2 weeks then 1lb a day.

It's very simple, focuses on how and what you eat. It tells you to cut all carbs, fruit and dairy. Eat straight protein, slow carbs, vegies (don't have to watch how much you eat either) for 6 days, then binge on whatever you want on the 7th day to kick your body's cycle. You don't have to go crazy on workouts either.

Read the book, you wont regret it
