western OB/GYn?

western OB/GYn?

Postby dreamscream » Wed Feb 08, 2006 1:25 pm

I need to find a western OB/Gyn…

I am running low on birth control pills but am nervous about just buying another brand of pills at local drug stores…I really would prefer to talk to someone about making the best switch…

I hear people talk about worldlink a lot…how do they work…do I just buy a membership and then pay out of pocket each visit…it’s been mentioned that worldlink is a bit pricy…I was just wonder how much an routine OB/GYn exam would run…does anyone know?

Is there any other health care providers I should look into?

p.s. I can speak fluent Chinese so that is not a problem…but I would just feel more comfortable with a western doctor…

World Link is who I use, and I am really happy with their service and doctors.

The whole membership thing is confusing, but the bottom line is you don't need one to see to their doctors.

They have a list of insurance companies that they can bill for you, otherwise you pay out of pocket and reimburse with insurance on your own.

I think people get jaded with all the 'low cost' stuff here and forget the real price of things...I haven't found world link to be that expensive, about the same as at home and these are foreign doctors...however, I don't know how much a normal OBGYN exam would be. If you have a copy of your recent (within the year) pap smear, all you'd need is a consult, no exam until the year is up.

WorldLink's standard visits run about RMB1000. A bit more for OB/GYN and any lab work.

Of the hospitals in town, WorldLink, American-Sino OB/GYN and United Family Hospitals are probably the ones you will feel more comfortable with.

Fudan Vision offers standard consultation at 350RMB with international Doctors from Singapore, Australia, Canada & US. Value for money and professional quality service.

Particularly, Dr Katherine Chu from Canada is an excellent Ob & Gyn.

In additon to all the advice, I would like to add that Dr Lu-Ferguson at World Link Specialty & Inpatient Centre is a fabulous Ob/Gyn. She is thorough, very professional and has a lovely manner. It took me a long time to trust the doctors here after repeated lack of real interest in a real problem. Dr Lu-Ferguson put my mind at ease and made real progress after a single visit.
