I just signed up for trial month of fbvpn for $5 and it was very slow. I e-mailed support made the recommended changes and am now listening to Pandora while typing this e-mail. Speedtest.net at first wouldn't even register speed, now I am hitting 3.05mbps and my regular speed through dsl is only 3.5mbps. Very quick turn time on e-mail and service is working well at the moment. Server is in VA, which is a bit far, but if I can listen to Pandora with no buffering I am happy. I will try hulu and some others next.

OrientalVPN also has a HK based connection, a lot cheaper and very fast in my experience.

How about Witopia? It's USD $60 a month, but you get the next 11 months free.

All suggested are too expensive. I would recommend everyone to try unblockmynet.com 's service. Their SSH tunnel service only $29.99 a year. Really fast connection. They also has OpenVPN based service for $49.99 a year.

Update, using fbvpn for pandora worked great, however, hulu and youtube were painful. The connection for me is just too slow, it could be I am not fast enough in my building, but I tried a Vpn out of seattle that is free and it seems to be faster and i was able to watch a show. I may upgrade to their $10 per month version as free version kicks you off every 30 minutes. Site is vpnreactor if anyone wants to try it out. They also have IP in Irvine, CA for paid accounts.

I've been using 12vpn since a few months now. I pay 30 dollars a year, it's the light version which mean a max download amount of 10 GB. But I've never surpassed that, even with trying. The normal version was 50 or 70 dollars for 1 year with unlimited download capacity.

But so far, 10 GB is more than I need, including everything...

The service is superfast, if you send them an email with a question, they'll reply you within 10-15 minutes.

Many server locations to chose from, cities in USA, all over Europe etcetera.
Facebook is very fast, Youtube loads a bit slow, but I havent really tried other servers than the 'Automatic' one.

So far Im very happy with it, the cheapest I could find and it has all I need.

I'm using StrongVPN - so far so good, although it tends to clog up in the mornings if you use a US based connection. The customer service is great, they have online chats available for any issues. It's not the cheapest, $15 a month, but the upload speed makes it worthwhile if you upload anything of any size.

Excellent. I switched from Witopia to StrongVPN about 3 months ago. I used witopia for nearly 1 year. Sometimes the speeds were good, other times it was quite slow, unresponsive customer service, etc.

Really, I've had nothing but good and quick customer service from WiTopia.

Just renewed with WiTopia and before they only had 4-5 link up options. Now they have 41 configurations from 23 different cities around the world...including several 128 bit and 256 bit encryption options.

Hey Moon over Miami -- (or other Witopia users),

Have you figured out how to optimize which server gateway to use? I always wondered which one to use and experimented with the logic of both distance and also how much traffic would be hitting that server at that time of day. It was so hit and miss that I really can't say I can conclude anything. When I asked customer service whether they had a recommendation on how to estimate speed, they were useless and basically told me that I could try multiple servers. Seems it wouldn't take much for someone to be able to quickly do a ping test or other speed test to optimize what server and leave guessing out of it.

I don't know if choosing the server was the reason but performance on Witopia was so painful that I would rarely use VPN except for the occasional text based blogging or FB, etc. I may try a different service out now that my subscription has just expired to compare. Maybe either StrongVPN, ExpressVPN, or this Overplay.

I ended up going with 12vpn. Cost $35 (~$30 with a coupon code) and that's per YEAR, not per month. Took me about 10 min to pay, setup and get going.

I set it on automatic and speed has been outstanding. I used to have to turn on witopia to get to a few sites that were blocked and then turn it off because it was kneecapping the speed of regular internet. With 12vpn, I leave it on all the time and forget about it because I don't notice any impact.

I really am happy with them!

VPN allows online connectivity among number of different devices as well as a lot of different connections. This kind of connection permits devices to connect to blocked and inaccessible sites from any region of the world. Hi All,
I was using Astrill before, best ever i use and expensive.
Now i found one, erights.net. Ip ay 16,50 $ / year. Last 1 months without any problem. Surely slower than astrill but if you wanna use only for facebook, youtube, hulu, twitter etc., i think thats enough.

Meanwhile, for pc and mac works, for iphone still didnt try and for android phone, i think it needs rooted phone, but mine is not, so that not working.

Cheers

Most servers have low latency but are slower than StrongVPN West Coast servers (i.e. can't watch YouTube). :\

Only good thing it's really cheap I guess + browsing is faster than with other VPN, wouldnt count on it if you want to watch video streams tho.

P.S.
Any suggestion for China Unicom users? I am currently using hk.yesvpn.*** server, latency is 29-30ms, but speedtest.net give only 0.120Mbps.

Upd: I take my words back, can watch YouTube 1080p... unbuffered... http://i.imgur.com/JzR2o.jpg
stable 6-9Mbps. I guess just depends if you have China Telecom or Unicom, ADSL or Fibre and on server you connect to.

@yesvpn

I am pretty fluent in chinese and familiar with AliPay and had no problems ordering your VPN, so just a tip. You need english version of you web page with tutorials if you want to sell it to expats and a lot of additional servers across South East Asia, charge extra for servers that can allow people watch YouTube any time of the day without problems. Most expats pay 400-500CNY year for western VPN servers that are a bit slow here in China.

As for now this is best VPN considering price/speed I came across.

Yes, for 10 RMB and all your secrets ...
Honestly, I prefer to pay a bit more but at least know who is filtering my data.

I just signed up to give it a try a couple of hours ago actually... So far so good. I quite like it since the instructions to setup was also pretty clear (Used google chrome) but would be helpful and faster to setup if it was in english.
As for the sign-up with Alipay.. i used google chrome with no issues at all~ As long as they have a local bank eg. China Merchant & it's online banking

All up it took me less than 30min to set everything up - thnx~

Best Value for your money is definitely PureVPN..
Their basic monthly package is for under $10 a month and if you go for the yearly plan it goes down to $6.25 which is just WOW..

The best PROVEN VPN choice in China has always been WiTopia, its not expensive at only $70 per year which is what, two small shopping bags at City Shop?

Have a look at their server list...they are a very professional company and the security it very good.

I'd steer clear of these guys trolling forums for customers. If they were that damn good they wouldn't need to do this and who knows about the security - all your login details, passwords - this is China.
