yo = shanghainese equivalent of "yao" (want)
vyo = shanghainese equivalent of "bu yao" (don't want)

when i was little, those are the only things i would say.

TMD! Not sure how to spell it in pinyin. Came in handy when someone tried to sell me a 4 kuai pack of smokes for 30.

qing dao
I needed some days to get to know that it was a brand.
(I was on business trip for the first time in shanghai and the people with me always asked me "do you want a beer?" and then shouted "qingdao!" to the waitress, so I assumed it was the Chinese word for beer...)

RULES TO REMEMBER IN LIFE:
1. Money can't buy happiness but it’s more comfortable to cry in a BMW than on a bicycle.
2. Many people are alive only because it’s illegal to shoot them.
3. Alcohol does not solve any problems, but then again, neither does milk

Actually, although correct, this is not the most polite way to say it. It's better to say xishoujian or weishengjian, instead of cesuo. Think saying "restroom" as opposed to "toilet". On the other hand, why be polite in China, someone might ask.

phonetic not pinyin for those who cant read pinyin

tim boodong say it quickly

i dont understand

this is the most useful of all words without exception usually after saying it they will keep jabbering so you repeat several times ,

this is a get out of jail free card for

police issues of a minor nature ( not recommended if you kill someone for trying to sell you a watch )
parking attendants who dont want you to park in a particular spot
parking attendants looking for some money ( dosnt work quiet as well if there is a barrier unless there are other cars behind you )
anyone you dont want to talk to

another good one to impress and embarrass

if you in a lift and you hear timboodong say nothing they are talking about you
as you leave turn smile and say

tin der dong they all think you have understood everything and the lift will go silent

ok one more for the cheeky look involved in a conversation nod a little and say hodder hodder they think you understand and agree. warning get out quick if they start talking again your cover is blown but its useful ( this working the lift situation as well )

this works both ways I was in a lift with a mate going the aussie embassy my mate was making derogatory remarks about china only one other person in the lift a Chinese we got out on the same floor , he looked at my mate and said in 100 % aussie accent if you dont like us mate **** off " we all burst out laughing

So easy to spot a Chinese girl. Just look for something incredibly banal and obvious being said.
