Here is the old thread but it has gotten big.

We can make this the default version 2.0 for this.

Thanks nabee fo starting it.. pardon my making it the next big music thread.

In terms of where to find new music.. I get most from friends. Sometimes if I am out of ideas, I browse amazon or emusic or one of those sites for recommendations (if you like this you might like that ) . The previous miusic thread is now locked ( people should continue posting here) but it has a lot of great ideas.

Do you prefer his side projects, like Ocean Machine or the stuff he does with Strapping Young Lad?

Just got the new Van Morrison album...Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl. Better than my wildest expectations.

Now, before you ask, I'm not being paid by them, and I don't even get a discount, but I got it at the Broadway dvd store on Weihai Lu where they have a great (for Shanghai) selection of CDs (upstairs). If there's a better selection anywhere else, then please let me know.

I use emusic. It's monthly subscription but for $15 a month you get approx 4 albums. Good way to find some decent new music.

Recent finds are The Antlers and Miracle Fortress - 2 amazing bands.

Oooh, interesting. Thanks!

yeah, if I wasn't clear, I wanted to know how to get in contact with "chinese music" , since I get my state music from friends etc.

One more thing is, Pandora isnt working in china, are there alternatives?

oh yeah I'm listening to APC- Judith. (digging through old songs at the moment).

^ When you find some music, there's 5 icons to the far right.

1st one looks like headphones, then a plus, then the download button...

Thanks mate.

I was clicking on that, but quicktime seems to want me to buy the full version in order to save a streamed file (its not allowing me to save as on my mac)... irritating.

It's written in the immigration card when you land in China:

Section 4.2.03A

Heroin
Cocaine
Nuclear Weapons
Bee Gees music in any form, including CD, MP3 or Video.
