Shanghai-based DJ and promoter Heatwolves has put together just under an hour of twisted electronica and narcotic rap from Triple 6 to A$AP Rocky that you’re definitely going to enjoy, even if you’re looking over your shoulder in fear for the duration. Honestly, we would never have expected to hear Objekt and Salem side by side in a mix, but this is inspired. There’s no point in me trying to describe this mix, as you can tell from the tracklisting how it’s going to play out."
Here it is in his own words: “yo. this my new tape. brings together some darker southern rap with some of the new ish it’s inspired, as well as some bass coming out of the UK atm. thunderstorm rap // dark-cloud-over-the-ghetto mix for april. scary beats x tales from the crypt styles. trains, the occult, samples from 70s and 80s PSAs… ▲▲ this is a one-take live mix I recorded with one pioneer CDJ-400, one CDJ-800, and a pioneer DJM-400 mixer, output from the mixer into a Zoom X2 recorder. i added the PSA samples later in Audacity.”
