What should I do with my kids tonight?

Hey moms and dads, this forum will help you with know about dealing with family issues

What should I do with my kids tonight?

Postby awilli8 » Fri Dec 18, 2009 9:51 am

They are four and six and I feel like I haven't seen much of them lately. Twice this week they fell asleep before I got home. A movie is ok, but then we aren't talking or engaging. Any suggestions?

We are new in Shanghai, I was hoping someone here might have some experience with kid friendly activities on a Friday in town. But thanks for your help...oh wait, you have nothing to offer.

Yeah maybe, but incredibly I have been told that it gets old very quickly. Aquarium sounds like a good idea.

Also on the Pudong side, depending on the weather, you can take a ride in one of the open top (sort of) buses that have all the crazy coloured lights on them. You have to bundle up against the cold, but if it's just cold but nice and clear (as opposed to cold and soggy and foggy and sh1te) it can be good fun; bring a thermos of cocoa and all cuddle together under a blanket; drive around and look at the building lights. My 3 year old loves this.
Cack, my blog is buggered.

My kids are also 4 and 6 and they enjoy playing Legos with me, reading books, playing play-doh. I noticed that when I try to do "super-fun" things with them, they will enhoy it, but not consider itfun time they spent WITH ME. The old regular stuff is always that they prefer, especially when I have not been able to spend too much time with them on certain days.

Take them to the Science and Technology museum. My daughter loved it when she was that age.

Thanks for the tips y'all. We went to the Aquarium Friday, made a playdate Saturday and spent all day Sunday with the legos. Hopefully next weekend we can try the bus tour or the Science Museum, both sound pretty cool. Freedelia, I also think they would have been just as happy to tear up the house with toys, getting out was more for my sanity. Thanks!
