What train station to get off for IKEA ?

Postby jeffinflorida » Fri Mar 13, 2009 9:28 pm

I was trying to figure out what station I should get off to go to IKEA but...

So, can someone please inform me what line, station to get off for Ikea?

I will take line 1 if that helps.

Thanks, in advance.

Line 1/4 - Shanghai Indoor Stadium. Its on the western side - exit near Huating Hotel. You can't miss it.
It sounds a bit strange, but try the cafeteria there - you won't be disappointed. Its pretty good.

For train station, there is ... none
By subway though, it's line 3 and the station name is Caoxi Road. A little walking distance and you there.

Why would he go to line 3 if he is already on line1 and the stop for IKEA is on line 1? (Shanghai Tiyuguan/Indoor Stadium)

Hey I'll be there at about 1 pm. Anyone else going there? Look for a big white guy with 2 Chinese girls walking 3 steps behind him.

In all seriousness. I will be there Today at about 12:30 to 1 pm.

No reason if not line 3 is more convenient. Just giving all the options here.

Walk from Shanghai Indoor Stadium Stop takes about 5 min to Ikea, the one on line 3 is about the same 5-10 min.

Depends on which gf you're taking with you today

Agree with poster above for the canteen.

Be prepared to queue if you're buying stuffs there. I somehow feel a bit disappointed with their furniture/garment/.... selection every time. And as usual you need to pay for bags.

^ Better to go there during weekdays as the queues can be quite long during weekends. I am quite fond of their stuff, but that might be because I am Swedish :) Patriotic you know.

Umm... Line 3 isn't a subway if you're going to get all technical about it.

Then you can take subway line 4 or line 1.
Get off at Shanghai Indoor Stadion exit 5

The IKEA marmalade and meatballs are very delicious.

I enjoyed Ikea. Been to US stores and an Ikea in Israel.

Got some good stuff, not hard to find off line 1.

Definitely go there again.

Thanks for the directions.

Pretty much the Ikea in Israel was about the same, yeah.

Meatballs are okay, far from as good as the ones you can get in Sweden. (mm, homemade meatballs :) ) And the furniture... Well in the west it is considered budget furniture so as for the quality I don't think you can find many stores in a western country with that good quality for that price. Design is ofc a matter of taste.

But this is not a Western country. I have found FAR better quality here in the big furniture malls, with negotiable prices, which Ikea do NOT do, plus even the starting price is considerably lower than Ikea. In comparison I think their furniture is rubbish. You can only see that if you check out the other options.

Yes, might be true but sadly I am not good enough to feel/know the quality just by the looks and feel (as a lot can be MUCH worse than Ikea). And I KNOW that Ikea carries decent quality on their stuff. But as I become more experienced in that kind of things I might be able to buy stuff at other places :)
