Whats with turn down service?

Postby BaDaXianRen » Wed Apr 02, 2008 6:11 pm

Every night its the same.

Knock Knock Knock

Hellooo can I turn down your bed?

Me: can you come back in 10 min, Im just showering before heading out to dinner?

ok

..........

5 min later-Hellooo can I turn down your bed?

Whiskey
Tango
Foxtrot

If you are delivering Chocolates just leave em. Are the Maids bored? Why do all these hotels insist on "turning down your bed"

What happens if they dont turn it down? I wont know which end to crawl into?

11:15 pm call to front desk: Could you please send up a maid I cant seem to find the entrance to the bed...it seems the turn down was neglected. I dunno I guess there are more ills than this in the world......but but but

As soon as I get in a hotel the Do not Disturb sign goes on. I don't even like the cleaners coming in going through all my dirty secrets. I just call housekeeping if I need water/towels etc.

Sometimes when very drunk it can be hard finding the entrance to the bed, there have been a few times I've woken on the floor next to a perfectly turned down bed, so it doesn't really help.

If they leave me a piece of chocolate, I'm happy. Imagine my disappointment when I realized that the little package on my pillow at the Crowne Plaza (or was it the Shangri-La?) was one of those Chinese cut-outs. What am I supposed to do with that at bed time?!

I usually stroll out to the "stock your room cart" and start asking for dozens of free samples. They give me the weirdest look, look around, then say: ok!

Like they aren't doing it themselves.... hotel room stockers probably have the cleanest families in all of China, soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, etc. 8)

No

I havent been to China for a while and its always interesting to see the progress.

There is no more code. You walk out of your hotel and a bunch of young guys jump out of the bushes and throw stacks of glossy cards in your hands and say "come to you room" in clear english.

I mean its always been there, but the level of presentation is really refined now.

Refined like wine, almost as pungent as Dynasty or Great Wall Wine that tastes like Welsh Grape Drink.

Only good turn down is leaving w/ a smile.

Back in '96 i was travelling with mates in Beijing. Got outrageously loose and when we got back to the hotel, proceeded to enter the wrong room. they loved it...

It's the same mindless drone mentality of switching 37 new clean plates while you're eating.

Funny, my drink hasn't been refilled in hours, but I'VE GOT NEW PLATES!!!

Five hotels in five days - all different chains. I was having a heckuva time remembering my room number each night. I think we flew five different airlines, too. On Shenzhen Air it's like someone bought an empty old plane and set up lawn chairs in it.
