I was in a Family Mart in a Class A office building the other day, and at the register, I noticed two new products in prominent displays.

Both are made by Durex. One is a vibrating "penis" ring (RMB 60). The other is a vibrator (with see through packaging) (RMB 250).

Makes sense to me. It's the peasants that have the highest aids/hiv cases due to poor education, lack of proper health care, poverty etc.

In 2001 the BBC reported massive cases of hiv being spread in Hunan (I think..) due to a blood transfusion company taking blood with infected equipment. I saw this programme on BBC World showing whole villages of people dying from aids, other villagers creating roadblocks to stop people moving around etc. People were literally left to fend for themselves as they died of aids.

BBC was blocked shortly after that for years.

That should not surprise you. During the SARS epidemic, there were no SARS infected people in all of Shanghai.

few years back it was reported that 10 foreign folks got infected with HIV....i think the story started at Tong Ren Lu and Windows....

I think the numbers on the map are per million, so Yunnan and Henan have a 3% infection rate, and Shanghai only .05%. Wait, that makes no sense, so it must be the official government numbers.
