If u mean real halal food, that's going to be a challenge.

Get a free copy of Cityweekend from any cafe or hotel, there are some listed as muslim but I doubt they are certified 'halal'

Well I guess all the xinjiang restaurants are muslim. and if you don't want a meat feast there are some turkish ones around town that may be halal.
Do as Kanasai said and pick up an expat mag - thats shanghai is probably the best one and check out the xinjiang or turkish places. you could even call them up to check if they are halal or not.
Why not take your damn orange juice and use it as an enema?

There's a Xinjiang restaurant a bit further south on Xiangyang Nanlu from the junction with Fuxing Zhonglu, it's on the west side of the street. Right at the junction of Xiangyang Nanlu and Fuxing Zhonglu, there's a new Xinjiang restaurant on the 2nd/3rd floor. There's a Turkish restaurant at 75 Xiangyang Nanlu (just outside the Xiangyang Lu market).

i know one on the Si Chuan Road. and many others in Shanghai, maybe you can not recognize them as their names are written in Chinese characters, i can tell u that "muslim" in Chinese is writen like"ÄÂ˹ÁÖ", hope this can help you find those restaurants.
