Real or copies?

Real? (how can I be sure that they are genuine) - also like to look at copies to compare and value for money

They have them in most major shopping centre. A good starting point is in HongQiao/Gubei area. In and around Shanghai Mart and in and around Gubei Carrefour. Walk around the streets surrounding Carrefour and you will find what you're look for. Enjoy!

If you are looking for real clubs and have the opportunnity..
I would buy them in either Hong Kong or your home country.
"Real" clubs are about 30-40% more expensive here than the US.
And to your point....need to really know your stuff to make sure you get authentic clubs.

I have a set of Taylormade R5 copies I bought here...~USD$200.
I also have a set of Taylormade R7's I bought in the US ~USD2,000.

For two hundred bucks, the copies hit pretty well as long as you pure the shot.
Where I notice the difference is in the woods. Says "Titanium"...it an't! Real ones hit farther when "pured", more forgiving when not (which is, sadly, usually the case for me!)
And in mis-hit irons....the real ones are much more forgiving. (side note: also, the copies are starting to develop a fine patina of rust on the back after a couple of years).

You do not say where you are from...but will you be bringing the clubs back out of China?
Many countries are looking much more closely at clubs coming in now.
Know a couple of folks who have last sets on the way into the US at Customs in the last year.

What's pretty humurous?...My real set were 'Made in China, assembled in the US"!

Thanks for you advice/info p1atl10. Yes my mis-hits are much the same - more frequent that the purfect contact. I think I will take you advice and buy genuine from home (Australia). I might however check out HongQiao/Gubei area and have a look at the copies - maybe just buy a 1, 3, 5 and 7??

They are worth a look...they are no that bad really.
For the money they are pretty darn good...just feel different than the real ones.

Good Luck!

I got a set of graphite "Callaway" here with a great bag for 900rmb (that was bargaining hard). They are pretty good, except as mentioned, the drivers aren't the best. Good second set to have, but the real ones here are much more expensive than Aus.

That was at Xiangyang market (now non existent) about 2 years ago. You could get them at the new market at Science and Technology Museum, but i'm pretty sure the best price you'll get now is 1200 and that will be with some hard bargaining. Mine are pretty good quality too. No problems at all, except the driver probably takes about 40M off my normal drive.

When buying, inspect them all. The main problems with fakes is apparently the connection between the shaft and the head. I've not had problems, but heard stories.

Excellent advice. I am aware of the new market at Science and Technology Museum...and 1200 is still a good price for a second set. Cheers !

There are still 2 stores with OK quailty knock off's behind Xiangyang on Nanchang Lu near Xiangyang Lu. As business has dropped a lot they are willing to go low in regards to pricing.

I have a set of Callaways as well, but am now playing Ping. I absolutley flush the driver, and its better than anything I've ever played with [real or fake]. Picked mine up at Cynthia's store which is on Wukang Lu, inbetween Huaihai & Tai'an Lu.

I was offered a set (4 months back) of Callaway in Gubei for 900rmb with travel bag but ended up with one at 1000rmb in QiPu just because the quality of the bag was much better. I have to walk away twice before he sell it to me at that price. He also put on a good show.... telling me I have taken away his children's dinner for the month at that price.... You've got to have a sense of humour to go there.

Thanks to both of your for the additional advice. Looks like I should have a look at 4 places - QiPu ?? / Xiangyang on Nanchang Lu near Xiangyang Lu / Cynthia's store which is on Wukang Lu, inbetween Huaihai & Tai'an Lu / and at Science and Technology Museum..........not that I really wish to cover the universe for copies
