chaou zhou restaurant in Bingo Plaza
Not bad, been a while since I had this Guangdong cuisine.
The crab in porridge was superb

Cameo's ~ Pines Shopping Centre.

First visit to this Italian restaurant but one I will certainly return to!

Service 5/5
Price 5/5
Ambiance 5/5 (Lighting,setting,noise level,privacy,music)
Food 4.0/5 - Two brilliant innovative dishes ~ one very mediocre Bolognaise

Overall a very enjoyable experience :p

Pinchuan @ plaza 66
Good Sichuan food
As usual fish head with red and green chilli, beef in spicy oil, chicken in chili oil, and a host of other good dishes
only downside was i was sweating too much from the spice

I have been in the one in jinqiao, I don't know if it is the same branch.
If you are picky and looking for 100% real Italian food, this is not the place. Otherwise, you can have good food at a not bad price. I'd suggest it, but once again not for people really picky about original recipe and so on. They also have a quite interesting Sunday set lunch.

Yasmine's in Jinqiao.

No seats available at tables.. all reserved.

Sit at the bar please.

..All tables reserved?

Yes.  Big party coming.. All tables taken.

(tables sat vacant for almost an hour after which a few of the party dressed up in roaring 20s started moseying in)

Perched at the bar overlooking the kitchen.

Counter top had not been cleared/cleaned from previous patrons. Plates and spilt food littered the bench top. Looked like there'd been a food fight.

My high chair felt weak and wobbly. Change it for another one. Same.

Finally someone emerged and wiped down the counter top. Dirty rag used. Surface moisture lingered.

Serviettes arrived.
Waiter: Ok?
Knife arrived. Placed down on the serviette.
Waiter: Ok?

Umm, is anyone going to take our order?

After lots of arm waving, someone finally ventured by.

How would you like your steak?
  ..Well done
Any drink?
  ..No
No drink??
  ..No

Dish arrives. Meat red raw inside.

Don't get me wrong, some folks like it that way. Not me.

And I don't return food either. Heard too many bad stories. I'd rather they see the problem for themselves.

So I cut the meat through the middle and opened it out to reveal its uncooked state, and left it on the plate, uneaten.

No one asked "how is everything?"

No one commented on that uneaten prime beef for which (I'm assuming) they're famous for.

Act II. At the cashier.

98 yuan please.

..Umm, my steak wasn't cooked.

98 yuan.

But... my steak.. Not cooked. Did you not see it left on the plate??

(by now other patrons were listening in curiously)

Oh! sorry about that! It's that damn Cuban chef! Always give me problem! I have to kick his ass!

(He animates a kicking motion and puts on an angry face)

.. meanwhile someone else's steak is being taken back to the kitchen..

98 yuan

I can't be bothered arguing.

Thank you thank you.  2 yuan change. Uh bye bye. Smile of relief.

By this time a few of the roaring 20's folk had arrived.

And a cop stood there. A real one. Can tell by the shoes.

People were looking around, what's going on?

Something's up with this place.

Eye fillet - 98 rmb.

Not a big piece of meat. Even less excuse for it to be uncooked.

A raw deal in anyone's currency.

I agree.

I've reviewed a lot of restaurants world wide and a chef's concept of 'well done' appears to be somewhat subjective :p

Bubba's Hongqiao. Monday night half off burgers. This puts you at 40RMB for a damn good Angus beef burger and some tasty seasoned fries on the side. Only better burger is NY Steak and Burger and rightfully so.

This new Cali Burger place for a fast food burger is a bit more than the above 40RMB but for a taste very similar to In N Out its worth the fix every once in a while. Bourbon shakes anyone? Go for the chocolate...vanilla and bourbon is a bit funky.

Had a Burger at Bubbas, Dockside, horrible, tasted like road kill. Draft beer was sour, the place is new, but apparently they dont clean the draft deer lines. Service was horrible, portions small. Hmm, what else, oh yes, will NOT be back!

Yeah I know what you mean. I've been to all their locations and though dockside is nice, especially when it was warmer. There are different owners. And that one in particular has issues.

May is an exceptional server and sweetheart there. She just doesn't have the support from anyone else though :( tis a shame!

I guarantee if you try Bubba's Hongqiao you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I have tried all the bubba's locations. Hongqiao is OK, not steller. Expo is just as horrible as cool docks, mostly due to that owner there who does not shut up when he comes to your table to say hello. Last time I went, we could not get rid of him!!

Greek Taverna

unit 41, 199 fangdian lu

What an awesome little place!
I had the gyros pork platter and it was quite good indeed. The meat was nicely grilled and very juicy, definitely what you would expected from meat that was slow roasted on those vertical ovens, not too dry. The pita was a little strange, but I suppose it is difficult to get pita around here. It came with rice, fries and tzatziki. 75rmb for this one.

It didn´t really taste like the sort of gyro you´d get on the streets of New York or Sao Paulo, but I suppose the gyro sandwich would be very faithful to its western cousins. A friend ordered the souvlaki beef, which is skewered fillet mignon, I had a small piece and you could taste that the meat had been well marinated, this one I suppose would be a little more appealing to the Chinese crowd, seeing that it was a bit spicy.

Good price and service. The chef and his staff are Greek and you can sense the characteristic Greek happiness.

I tried "Lange" On wuding lu, Xikang lu crossing. Italian. 175 for a pizza, pasta and two beers. The Pizza was ok, nothing close to great. Pasta, not so good. Our order took 20 minutes, but I am not complaining. I think its a good time.
I like it because its quiet and not too many people. Is good if you want to have a nice conversation, but not if you are foody.

I have been a big fan of Pistolera since it opened over a year ago. I find myself in Jin Qiao at least once a week, and when I do, I usually have lunch there, sometimes dinner. Yesterday I had both lunch and dinner there. It saddens me, therefore, to point out what appear to be some dodgy practices. On two occasions I've had to ask for my change after I paid the bill. Last night I was informed by the annoyingly over-solicitous manager working the floor (not the guy I'm accustomed to), that the cashier told him I had paid with exact change. Like hell. I paid with pink notes and no change. I requested to see my receipt and a fapio, and lo and behold my change materialized, without explanation or apologies. On another visit, our third round of margaritas made with high-end tequila had the unmistakable metallic tang of the cheap stuff. We sent them back and they were remade without prοtest. Still love the food, but keep your wits about you.
