Try the SBT book store in Gubei carrefour, or the foreign language bookstores - one in hongqiao pearl city ground floor - one in huai hai road, not sure of the addresses - you could do a search on the forum.
If you want just the alphabets in capitals with some pictures, Gubei carrefour also has bilingual books.. the ABC s are in capital letters with pictures and chinese words below.. lower prices.

There is a big english book store on Fuzhou Road, you should go check it out.

My friend buys them at the market that is by the yu garden ... at the 4th floor.... They have good variety as well as educational toys.
but there is a lot of people arouynd there. So I dont recomend it if you dont like crowds.
