Everyone has their own sources and opinion of what is good, the Japanese Market in the Jing An Subway stop has some decent stuff.

There are always other vendors you can work with.

Ya there are few places that do home delivery....many of the people cooking on our BBQ grills like to use this guy.

In my opinion his steaks are the best cooked on a grill which he can pre cut or sell in bulk to you.

His meat is high end prime meat. 500 RMB minimum home delivery.

Any other recomendations?

Pine's will cut to order...if the butcher is actually there.

I usually go with Fresh Mart for decent beef. City Portmann for the day to day...

And like all things here, they are all spotty at times.

Fresh Mart, basement floor of City Plaza , next to Jing An Temple on nanjing WestRd near HuaShan Rd.

City mart / City Shop supermarkets-

Known by a variety of names, City Shop, City Market, City Mart, and even by their produce supply divisyion, City Farm, Shanghai’s favorite Expat supermarket has just expanded to 7 City Shop branded locations. (they also have a few mini-markets called “My Store” around town. While overpriced at times, City has been a godsend to many expats and visitors in the past decade as it continues to bring sought after imported foods as well as fresh produce into the city for the more selective shoppers.
Locations:
3211 Hong Mei Rd – This 2 storey locations that feels like a bit like a “real supermarket” and is the largest outlet I have been to in the chain. 64461110
Basement Floor, 939 Huai Hai Central Rd, at Shan Xi Rd. 64741290
Basement Floor Times Sq (Puxi,) 99 Huai Hai Central Rd. 63910765
Shanghai Center, 1376 Nanjing West Rd, next to the Portman Ritz Carlton 62708018 This is the “original” market in my mind as it has served Shanghai Expats from the Shanghai center for seemingly forever. In fact even to this day I meet expats that live in Shanghai Center that shop nowhere other than this City Shop.
Basement Floor Citicorp Bldg, 33 HuayuanShiqiao Rd, Pudong 50478028
Shop 08, Basement level of Novel Place, 131 Tian Yao Qiao Rd at Xin Geng Rd. 33686077
B1, Film Art Center, 160 Xinhua Rd, near PanYu Rd

Pines- call 6262-9055 for list as their web site is out of date.
6 years of experiences, good, bad ugly... and survived.

The 2nd floor of the Sheraton Hotel near Yanan and Xianxia has a really nice Butcher Market type shop. Near Parkson, Friendship Store, Galaxy Hotel, Rainbow Hotel area. City Shop is OK but usually picked over at the end of the day.

As far as I know.....and I pretty much stay on top of this issue.....USDA beef ban will continue into the foreseeable future. Canadian beef, however, is rumored to be approved soon. Funny isn't it that the original case of MC that got USA and Canada banned in the first place was an animal from Canada. I guess they're not the ones selling arms to Taiwan though. :)

Huh!?!

I wish the US would sell arms to Taiwan.

Right now the US sells the Taiwanese bugger all. Recently the US appears a teensy bit scared of China.

Where are Taiwan's F16s?

Fields is an online grocery store specializing in organic, natural and imported products that are otherwise difficult to find here in Shanghai. We offer same-day and next-day home delivery to the greater Shanghai area. We have a steady supply of several USDA meats, and some that come and go since the implementation of the meat ban. Please check out our website http://www.fieldschina.com to see our current offerings.

I personally would never order my meat. I need to inspect the cut and grade visually before buying. A good and bad ribeye for example, is night and day. Also i like to pick the right thickness for the style of preparation; a steak less than an inch thick? No thanks.

There is a meat shop in changning lu thats sells Chinese beef from qingdao.
The store name is in chinese, but its ion between the ring road and the subway street in Changning lu.

The T bones are freaking good and resonable at 30 rmb per 250 gsm
They also have Chinese wagyu WHICH IS MY FAVORITE at 32 rmb per 200 gsm. This one melts in your mouth, just amazing
The lamb chops are already marinated and frozen, have treied them to and perfect for oven roasting.
Their lamb kebabs...its much better than the yang rou chuar you buy in the uighur restaurants and prtty reasonable at 24 rmb for 10 skewers since they are big.

Check out Citysuper in the lower level of the new IFC (HSBC) in Lzj. It's kinda tucked away but if you are looking for a nice quality imported cut of meat- you'll find it there. It's a lot bigger than Feidan and Pines- closer to a full size supermarket and is full of imported goodies. Nice to have found it. Almost forgot to mention, they have a wine bar inside the market. It makes shopping so much better! Nice touch!

Am not in Shanghai but know Metro Cash & Carry has stores there. Where I am husband go there to buy meat when he wants some good steaks etc as most of the "normal" supermarkets he not happy with. Pay more at Metro Cash & Carry, but he like it some times as can get some items from home.
I took your advice and looked at the big picture . . . . . . but you are still an ugly, arrogant bas*ard
