Where to stay in Chengdu?

Postby meisidisi » Thu Sep 07, 2006 2:01 pm

Does anyone have any recommendations for a nice hotel or guest house in Chengdu? We're looking for something boutique-y and nice, rather than an international chain. Location is also important. The closer to downtown the better. Any ideas are appreciated. Thank you so much!

Thanks horsemank! Not to sound ungrateful, but I had already found these links and read the Lonely Planet guide, and one can get lost reading so much information and it would never be the same as hearing a recommendation from someone who actually stayed in a hotel. I guess what I was looking for here was a more personal recommendation. You seem to know Chengdu. Where did you stay? Would you recommend the place?

I usually stay in the Holiday Inn Crown Plaza. It's walking distance of a lot of nice restaurants and bars. Pity I don't come there that often anymore. Chengdu is quite nice.

Mix Hostel have nice dorms etc for RMB50, and also hotel stylie rooms across the road for RMB160 per night, very nice and good value. http://www.donkey-pal.com/index_eng.htm

Also, if you are into it, visit the Hemp House. Directions on a map from Mix.

My brother in law has a house there, so we always stay for free.

I can recommend Holiday Inn though as it has a nice location, price is OK and it's a famous hotel.

I went slightly after Oct holiday week and stayed at Flower Hotel and really liked it. Another one you might like to consider would be Jinli Inn. Drop me a PM if you need more details.

I stayed at prime hotel, Zhongfu rd. Dunno how the location is, I only know it's closed to the pedestrian malls... like nanjing rd in shanghai. Again I cant be sure as I am not very familiar with Chengdu.

I found it would be better off for you to stay in international chain hotels, they would surely be centrally located and offer convenience you need.
