百度 - A name, "Baidu"

百科 - encyclopaedia

For my translation needs I usually use this dictionary. When searching for words there are usually links to Chinese wiki-look a likes after the translation and explanations if you need further reading.

Oh, you can always use the Chinese version of Wiki, then when you've found 百度百科 on it just click "English" to the left of the screen (if there is an English version) and there you go. This is an easier way if you don't know that much Chinese.

This is what a dictionary is for. "When someone who is learning a language passes a intermediate point they should quit the translation dictionary in preference to a proper dictionary to improve vocabulary and understanding."

The worst thing Chinese do is always look for a translation dictionary!!! You aren't studying for how to pass a test, right? Or are you? High score low ability??

You want to improve your English? Then you need to toughen up and use an English dictionary and figure it out.

Sorry, if this seems a bit harsh, but come on, get with it.

YOU NEED TO TOUGHEN UP!

Throw away that translation dictionary...you won't be needing that!!

THROW IT!!

^Agree with all those posts above.
^And that photo still send shivers down the spine...

But from the OP message (and my strong ear for Chinglish grammar) I think when she said 'I just want to find some explanations of some words, just like baidu baike(百度百科)' she just meant:
"I want to find a website that can explain things to me in a simple and easy way, like Baidu's version of Wikipedia (百科) does."

If you want an English/Chinese translator then check out the translator that i have http://www.orientnow.cn/WorldOfEnglish/ ... inese-101/

Wikipedia itself is usually very good. I take it you want an English encyclopaedia/dictionary?

But make sure that there are good references to what you read.
