miss_t wrote:Where are all these Brits and Aussies hanging around you speak of cos that's where i wanna be! I'm a Brit and seldom find a fellow countryman or Aussie to natter with and it'd be nice to have a chat in 'normal' English rather than thinking two words ahead of myself to not confuse non native speaks or even Americans!!

Maybe you're just more aware of other nationalities, cos i for one see and hear Germans everywhere!!!!! Not laughing or joking mind you....

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

'Boxing Cat Brewery', I always bump into Brits there.

Ooooh miss_t...you poor sausage.

You're welcome to come along to Aussie drinks every Friday night at Kakadu from 6pm onwards. Discount drinks and good Aussie tucker. 30rmb entry. At least you know the OP won't be there. :yum::

Hello, the names's Star. Shang Star.

I'm a Brit MissT. I too dont see much of us around. I think most of our countryfolk tend to go to HK rather than SH.

Technically, I'm also British- UK/USA dual national actually. My family moved from England to America in the late 70's. I grew up in a very small town in Southwestern Idaho (USA). All the cowboys and rednecks there used to beat me up because I said "ba-nah-ner" instead of "banana".

It pissed them off so much because all the girls wanted me instead of them. Apparently, in America, nothing is sexier to the ladies and more threatening to the men than a man who says "ba-nah-ner".

Look at Sean Connery- the dude is 80 years old and American women still drool over him. Why? Because he says "ba-nah-ner" That's why.

It's a bit like a virtual pub where we can chat with each other in the comfort of our homes and then go out and meet up and continue discussions over a Blonde or two. I mean the beer, not the types in the clubs that the OP is looking for.

Very funny- some good lines.

I'm very happy being an uneducated Australian, and am proud that I can now tie my own shoelaces.

I'm confused :?

How HYSTERICAL you are Laydown. :P

Well, I couldn't think of the feminine word to go with chaps. Maybe I should have said blokes and sheilas.

FYI, lassies is the Scottish word for females and given I am half Scottish then it's a common word we use.

To be more accurate, not only the American women drool over the Brit accent, in other parts of the world we drool as well .
Sir Sean Connery is actually 300 years old, and yes he is hot old man

Funny thing is he was Austrian....a fact Austrians like to forget. Gosh, imagine what a "Chinese Hitler" would bring to the world.

Funnily enough, I have found myself starting to speak Chinglish around my chinese colleagues. Sometimes I have to do the chinese equiv pronounciation.

I agree with Plat, its the singaporeans that are a pain. they switch between chinese and english mid sentence and combine grammars sometimes mid word :D do you wanna go chi some fans la?

Sorry to the British, this question is for the Aussies -- anyone knows about census in Australia? When is the next one, and what are we supposed to do? We'd like to be counted :) And vote whenever Kevin calls an election.

1. You don't live there. The census is only for people who are there on census night.

2. If you've been gone more than 2 years, they've taken away your right to vote (but not to pay tax on Aus-sourced income - cute, that...).

You can thank J. Howard for that one. Some genius told him the Libs were getting caned on OS postal votes, so he disenfranchised us all - scumbag.

At least we don't run around measuring people's noses and skulls and pushing them into gas chambers if they aren't the 'right' proportions.

Go back to the kraut websites, if there are any.
