The general consensus is that the China Unicom package is the best value. You can generally find a years subscription for about 5-600rmb a year, 900ish with a USB adaptor. Its limited to I think 3.5Gig a month, but its fine for travel use.
Most computer malls will have someone with a small stand selling card+package, or you can get on Taobao.
I generally order from Taobao as its cheaper, and more trustworthy (for me)

Most places you will stay in should have internet though - hotels, restaurants etc (assuming you'll be staying in Shanghai or other large cities). Wifi is pretty much available anywhere.
