I am wondering the same thing, mate. I had a USB dongle which allows me access internet anywhere in Australia. But I don't see the similar thing in China.

You can get a USB dongle from China Telecom which you can use with your laptop anywhere. The dongle takes a china telecom 3G sim then you get a monthly bill or your Internet use.

Yes, there are many options for almost overpriced mobile broadband.

China Unicom, China Telecom,China Mobile all have various packages and speeds, and coverage.

The general consensus is that the China Unicom package is the best value. You can generally find a years subscription for about 5-600rmb a year, 900ish with a USB adaptor. Its limited to I think 3.5Gig a month, but its fine for travel use.

Most computer malls will have someone with a small stand selling card+package, or you can get on Taobao.
I generally order from Taobao as its cheaper, and more trustworthy (for me)

Suggest use google translate to see the options, then know whats available.

Thanks for your reply! Thing is that I stay in China for almost 20 days and what package and from which company do you suggest me to buy?

If you're coming here for 20 days, just get a local sim card, and pay for gprs. No point hassling around otherwise.

Most places you will stay in should have internet though - hotels, restaurants etc (assuming you'll be staying in Shanghai or other large cities). Wifi is pretty much available anywhere.

Thanks for your kind suggestion but I think I need USB internet so that I can use it anywhere anytime. What do you suggest for that?
