Yanlord Riverside in Changning

Postby badger02 » Sun Feb 17, 2008 11:41 pm

Hi,

My girlfriend and I moved to Shanghai a week ago, need to get out of hotel and find our own place.

We are concentrating on the Changning area mainly because of the commute to work, would love to be in French Concession but traffic is murder.

We have been to various compounds, but we keep coming back to Yanlord.

We have seen a few better apartments, but Yanlord just seems to have a good community feel about it. We are both in our 30's, no kids, like to get out and meet people, like a bit of sport as well. Not the shy retiring types !

Has anyone got any advice about Yanlord ? Are our feelings right ?

Thanks, Jase and Tracey

I live in Yanlord and really like it. Good facilities...gym, indoor courts, outdoor courts, nice indoor pool and a large outdoor pool. Close to new stops on Line #2.

Only real annoyance for me is the way they run the outdoor pool. It's really like backwards and mind boggline (no jumping from the sides, you have to enter the water from one distinct roped off area, women HAVE to wear swim caps regardless of the length of their hair...and if you're a guy with long hair....you don't have to wear one, some sections that are obviously part of the pool are off limits....I could go on and on). Anyway, this is the only complaint I have.

Lots of good restaurants in this area too. The Japanese consulate is a few blocks away, which translates into dozens of good and little known sushi/japanese restauarants. Cloud 9 mall, Zhongshan Park, Chengfeng Park, and two Carrafores also in close proximity. Not to mention Bubba's Bar-B-Que.

ha ha...Had to throw that in there.

Oh how I wish I was! It's so bad we sometimes will choose to go to Mandarin City to swim instead of our pool.

If you like the French Concession Area live there. I do. The street traffic is not to bad. You can take the Metro. If you have to use the highways then you have a problem wherever you. I use the streets most of the time and its better then New York, or Long Island.
For me the French Concession area works great, but its not for everyone.

We have lived near the Yanlord for 2 years and have friends that live there...seems to be one of the nicest in the area. We would live there too but we didn't find an apartment as nice as the one we are now in (the rest of the apartment complex at Yanlord is one of the best though).

I live in Xujiahui, commute 15 min every morning by car to Hongqiao Development zone. Maybe you could consider Century Metropolis, it is in the heart of Xujiahui, so you're closer to town. But still quiet enough on a nice side street, and close to Hong Qiao. It also has a good clubhouse, gym, and pool...etc.. However, the membership for gym and pool are quite expensive, but there are many other gym choices in Xujiahui though. There is now also a new (smaller than Gubei) City super, and Carrefour in Xujiahui as well.

We decided not to live in Yanlord Garden due to low quality of the apartments and bad design. You can find something much better by Yili road and Hong Qiao Road for same or less money.
We decided for Golden Avenue instead of Yanlord. They dont have an outdoor pool but they do have Fitness, Spinning, indoor pool, fantastic quality of materials. Excellent management + 2 small groceries 4 Massage & Spa and an ice cream place. In addition to this its just 5 min taxi drive from Carrefour.
