When you get quoted crazily high prices for crazily cheap made in China items. Especially if you don't look Chinese.

Yep!

However like all business the prices charged are what people willing to pay for it. (Re: Apple) In China there are two things affecting the price.

1. Chinese seem to know little about how competition is supposed to work. When they see someone else charging more for something they also sell the reaction is "Great! I charge more too"!
Its anti-competition in action!

2. There are more than enough foreigners, just off the plane, who either don't know they are supposed to haggle or feel sorry for the poor family who are just wanting to put some rice and veggies on the table or are just dumb, or the company pays for everything! Now go back to No 1

Example 1

The fake market is flogging a pair of cheaply made jeans for $35 when you can by better quality jeans in the US for $14! (I have $12 Faded Glory jeans that are three years old and are fading nicely and not all worn out)

you see a child urinating on a washing machine in E-mart. His mother rushes over, not to scold him mind you, but to turn him away from the washing machine and into the isle...it is not safe to pee on electronics!!

Really? You have a problem with knowing if you're in China or not?

...the office ayi starts mopping all the floors half an hour after everyone arrives for work.

Every day.

And it doesn't occur to anybody else that this is dumb.
Everything belongs to mainland china, everything was invented by mainland china, everything bad in mainland china was caused by laowai and China has 5 million years of culture. -News by KKO

You step in something brown and mushy on the walkway and (cringe)
you are not sure if it is animal or human, and you don't know how to react
(other than disgust) either way(and yet another pair of shoes bites the dust)
We were meant to live for so much more
Have we lost ourselves?
