z visa requirement help

Postby Romeolo888 » Mon Jun 28, 2010 1:49 pm

Hi all,

I am in process of sorting out my z-visa.

ok, i got the 1st two documents sorted which needs to have a valid passport and also the application form.

What i would like to know is what other documents do i need? I plan to go to the UK china application center with all my documents, but need a final clarification on what i need.

"Work Visa (Z-visa) is issued to a foreign citizen who is to take up a post or employment in China and his or her accompanying family members, or to give commercial performances in China.

i.Please provide the following documents:

(i) Original passport which has more than 6 months left before it expires from the date of application and sufficient blank visa pages (18 months and more left if intended stay in China is more than one year).

(ii) One completed Visa Application Form (e-Form / Download) with a recently-taken passport photo. All the items on the application form should be fully filled in with genuine information; if the applicant has a Chinese name, the Chinese name should be filled in; false or incomplete information and illegible characters may lead to refusal of a visa.

(iii) Employment Approval Documents required:

(A) Foreigners who come to China to take up employment as experts, scholars, teachers, managerial personnel and as personnel working in related state or local organizations should provide:

1. Permit for Foreign Experts Working in China(original) issued by the State Bureau of Foreign Experts (original);

2. A visa notification form (should be used within 6 months since its issuing date) issued by an authorized unit in China (original).

(B) Foreign technical personnel who come to China for Offshore petroleum operations should provide:Letter of Invitation to Foreigners for Offshore Petroleum Operations in China issued by China National Offshore Oil Corporation (original);

(C) Chief representative or representative of foreign offices resident in China should provide:

1. The registration certificate of resident representative office of foreign (regional) enterprises issued by related administrative department of industry and commerce; OR The approval document for the resident representative offices of foreign enterprises issued by related commercial departments.

2. A visa notification form (should be used within 6 months since its issuing date) issued by an authorized unit in China (original).

(D) Personnel who come to China to implement aid or technical cooperative projects should provide:

1. Bilateral or multilateral agreement between the Chinese Government and foreign government or international organization, for cooperation and exchange;

2. A visa notification form (should be used within 6 months since its issuing date) issued by an authorized unit in China (original).

(E) Personnel who come to China for commercial performance should provide:

1. Approval document (also copy) issued by the Ministry of Culture or the Cultural Department of related province, autonomous region or municipality directly under the Central Government;

2. A visa notification form (should be used within 6 months since its issuing date) issued by the Ministry of Culture or the foreign affairs office of related province, autonomous region and municipality directly under the Central Government.

(F) Personnel other than those mentioned above should provide:

1. The Employment Permit for Foreigners issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security;

2. A visa notification form (should be used within 6 months since its issuing date) issued by an authorized unit in China (original).

(G) Accompanying family dependents of personnel working in China should provide related note, letter or visa notification (should be used within 6 months since its issuing date) issued by an authorized unit or documents proving their status as dependents. "

So i think i come under term E for the 3rd requirement. Can someone help me with what the documents are? At the moment, I have got a letter from my company to show, and also a letter from the government stating acception to work in china. I know this sounds a bit confusing. but i am also confused myself.

please help all

thanks

Without much reading of it, I can tell you what I had to do.

Laminated paper that authorize you to work in China. you need original, but also 2 copies for both sides.
Invitation letter from Chinese govn. Its a A4 print out with official stamp. make couple copies as well
Application (you can find it and fill it out while waiting in line in the embassy).
Passport obviously.
I think that's it, but I might be missing something.

BTW, I dont see E requirement (only F) and assuming E=F, I dont see 3rd req. it ends on 2nd?

^^ yes, but then again, you def should check with your HR or consulate just to be safe. BTW, there is a big sticky thread on getting Z visa on this forum, check it out.

I recently got hired a week ago and is in the process of applying for the Z-Visa. The company is helping with most of the application, but it wants a criminal background check verification. I went online and did a criminal background check and gave them my clean background check report, but they will not accept an internet version. Have anyone gone through the process of getting an official criminal background check in the USA that is accepted by the Chinese government? I live in Michigan. Where do I go to get this official document? Do I need a federal criminal background check that encompasses all the states? How long does process take? Can I do it in China, or do I have to go back to the USA to get this official document. I have searched all the forum to get this answer,but have found none. I even asked my expat friends how they did it, and they told me their company handled all the details, so don't know the detail.

The company told me that they can not get me an invitation letter until i give a verified criminal background check for them. I would appreciate advices from anyone who has recently gone through the Z-Application and explain to me what this certified criminal background check is, and how to get it.

Thank you
