Zhongshan Park or Jingan Si ?

Zhongshan Park or Jingan Si ?

Im a student, looking for a flat and hesitating between those 2 locations.
The most important for me is to be very close to subway line 2...

I like going out and shopping of course and walk down the streets to observe shanghai daily life...

what place you think would be the best for me to live ?

thanks !

Both locations are good for line 2 as you would have found out.

Zhongshan Park is better for everyday shopping while Jing'An is better for high end and special fashion shops.

Jing'An has better varieties in term of places for street walkers.... I think.

Jing'An has more night clubs and expat restaurants hence easier for singles to mingle.

Observation of SH daily life is free with both locations... just don't stand too close as some of them will bite...

Have fun choosing.

Jingan Temple area for closeness to bars, restaurants and shops and decent supermarkets (freshmart, cityshop)
Plus you a few stops closer to people sq.

The rents may be higher than Zhongshan Park though.

Jing An has the most expensive real estate in Shanghai so rents will be more expensive than Zhong Shan Park. If you are a student you will want to watch your funds. I think you can live much more cheaply in the Zhong Park area than in the Jing An area. Zhong Shan Park has a Carrefour supermarket which is large and is for locals whereas Jing An area has supermarkets which are more upmarket and expensive.

Having said that, agree totally with Captain Cook that Jing An is better for singles to mingle and observing local daily life!

^ depends on how you define "local daily life". As a Zhong Shan park resident for the past almost 5 years, I assure you there is plenty of "local daily life" happening in the area so long as you are off the main drag like ChangNing Rd. If one lives or wanders near DingXi Rd, which ends / begins at Zhong Shan Park's main entrance, one will find plenty of things happening starting in the mornings at the gates of the park where hundreds of locals are out doing dance, martial arts and other exercise. Down the street a bit one will find a collection of local stores and eateries, many open at early and late hours and these stressts are fairly full of people too.

Of course as mentione Carrefour is located in Cloud Nine Center and is also full of a different kind of "local life".

In fact, in my opinion, the only thing missing this area is that there are no real options for western fare but then again 2 stations down on Metro line 2 slves that problem
6 years of experiences, good, bad ugly... and survived.
