Your name will be published along with your article, unless you request otherwise. Once your work is published on Shanghai Expat, it becomes the property of our website, though you get full credit for your work. Please refrain from publishing identical work elsewhere. Plagiarism is unacceptable: our editors will check submitted articles for copied work.Most of our articles are between 700-1000 words. We may accept shorter or longer pieces, provided that the length suits the subject. Pictures can make an article, and taking your own pictures is the best way to avoid copyright issues. Please send three or more photos with each submission. You don’t need to put these photos in a word document. Simply attach them to the email as jpeg files.
Become an Editorial Intern at Shanghai Expat
Shanghai Expat accepts applications for editorial internships. If you would like experience of working within an editorial environment, please send us two writing samples. The first sample should be between 700 and 1000 words, and should be suitable for publication on Shanghai Expat. The second sample can be on any subject, and does not need to relate to Shanghai or China.Please also tell us:
• Your age
• How long you’ve been in China and how long you hope to stay
• Very briefly, what interests you about interning at Shanghai Expat
As an editorial intern, your duties will include writing articles, taking photos, research and editing, and perhaps some basic admin.
You’ll gain invaluable work experience in a media environment, and the opportunity to publish several articles on our website.
