Stuck in Shanghai and want to look at a piece of iconic american history daily to make you feel more at home? Here's your chance.
This is a charming piece from the beginnings of american industrial revolution beauty. A fantastic conversation piece, ESPECIALLY here in China.
Holds more than 11 hours power reserve with a full wind and loses about 5 minutes a day.
Not sure the last time it's been serviced either. It's an 1879 Waltham. Pretty damn big and thick, definitely way bigger than my other pocketwatches. Pretty much a big chunk of silver with a clock in it. The glass crystal is really thick and has many light scratches in it but there's so much glass there that I'm sure the scratches could easily be sanded out or something with no adverse effects on the watch or the integrity of the crystal. The second hand is missing a bit of blueing where it attaches to the spin thing due to corrosion also...Or at least I assume it's corrosion seeing that this watch is about a century old.
Watch date obtained judging by the serial number of the movement and comparing to here: http://www.oldwatch.com/walthamdate.html
Please see below photos.
I'm not sure of the dimensions because I have no ruler, but it's definitely a thick one. I estimate 2" diameter and 3/4" thick.
I can meet face to face in Shanghai if you wish. I can accept paypal payment as well. Price negotiable.
Price is 2500 CNY negotiable.
