Good Leadership In China: A Free MBA Class

By Sponsored Content

The topic of leadership has long been studied in the West as a way of understanding the characteristics and behaviors of those leaders who inspire followers to perform better at work and to find joy in their work. The literature in China has also examined this topic and much has been discovered about “good leadership” through these studies.

This presentation will summarize the findings of a study on one of the subsidiaries of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in Daqing. Over 70 managers were asked to write stories of people they had experienced in their lives who inspired them as good leaders. The study participants told interesting and inspiring stories about a wide variety of people they had met during their lives, including work managers but also teachers, grandparents, and fellow workers. These “leaders” consistently carried out actions that inspired others around them and had a wonderful and powerful impact on the work and personal settings in which they lived. This presentation will share some of their stories and draw some conclusions about good leadership in China.
