LOOK: Xiamen City Rolls Out BRICS Summit-Inspired Metro Cars

By Ben Cost

When we heard that Fujian province's Xiamen decided to do a trial run of subway trains inspired by the BRICS Summit this past September, we weren't exactly chomping at the bit to ride them. What's next? Drywall-flavored ice cream? A new line of Crayola crayons ranging from Eggshell to Miracle Whip white? Fortunately, the designs are pretty neat....

Drawing on the five countries that attended the International Relations Meeting -- China, South Africa, Brazil, India and Russia -- carriage designs featured Russian dolls, African diamonds, Brazilian soccer pitches and more. Thankfully they didn't see or we might've seen subway compartments that seal themselves and release Sarin gas on those who disparage Putin or trains that play chicken with their counterparts coming from India.

Though for the most part, the summit went off smoothly in light of recent events. Here are some of the highlights.
