NBA Star Kobe Bryant To Help Open Basketball School In China

By Jordan Harris

One of NBA's most famous players, Kobe Bryant will help NBA China and Mission Hills with the opening of the country's first NBA basketball school, along with an “interactive experience and store” which will both be located in Haikou on Hainan Island.

The school will cater for everyone from junior level up to professionals and both males and females will be taught. Bryant hopes the partnership and school will help take basketball to a higher level in China. “The Chinese youth will benefit from a complete approach to player development that combines NBA-quality coaching with NBA-level training." The NBA legend said.

Slated for a completion date of sometime in 2019, the academy will be operated by NBA China, staffed by NBA-trained coaches and will have six indoor basketball courts.

The b-ball school will join other similar ventures on the island which will include a football academy and experience area developed by FC Barcelona along with a tennis academy in association with Boris Becker.
