Some of the biggest name in the entertainment industry were in Shanghai today for the world premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

In a Shexclusive twist, Shanghai Expat was invited into the press pit to watch the likes of Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush, and others walk down the red carpet on their way into the Walt Disney Grand Theatre at Shanghai Disney.

Before the stars congregated in front of their screaming fans, they were first led on a tour around Shanghai Disneyland. While there, the actors posed together for photos in the pirate-themed Treasure Cove, and Orlando Bloom posted a video of himself on the Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle For The Sunken Treasure ride.

As of yet there’s no news as to whether or not Johnny Depp, who plays Captain Jack Sparrow, will reprise his role to surprise guests at Shanghai Disney, although given that he appeared in character on the Pirates ride in Anaheim a few weeks back, we wouldn’t be surprised.

Once back on the red carpet, Jerry Bruckheimer, one of the world’s most well-known movie producers told reporters that Shanghai Disney was “the best Disney ever.” Quite the compliment for the resort on the eve of their first anniversary.

While Shanghai Disney recently hosted the Chinese premiere of the new Beauty and the Beast, this is the first time a world premiere for a Hollywood movie has ever been held in China. A sure sign that Disney is trying its hardest to make their Shanghai park a success.

Our on-site reporter Ben Cost described the experience “amazing.” “It was great to see a movie based on a Disney ride come full circle and end up back at Disney, in Shanghai no less."
